1958 Porsche Speedster

Description
This 1958 356A T2 Speedster is presented in its original color combination of Meissen Blue with a black fabric top over a spectacular red leather interior. Refinished by the experts at European Collectibles in 2019, the current owner subsequently renewed the brightwork, powder-coated the engine tin, replaced the carpeting and side curtains, and replaced the original red vinyl interior with elegant leather. T2 Speedsters, built from September 1957 to August 1958 are considered by many to be the best iteration of the model. Improvements over the earlier T1 included a smoother shifting 4-speed transmission, Zahnradfabrik (ZF) steering box, and a high bow top frame that not only provided more headroom, but also allowed placement of a factory-fitted roll bar, if one was desired. This Speedster benefits from a more powerful, period-correct 1.6L Super engine.
The Meissen Blue exterior, a name taken from the German town made famous for its fine porcelain, is complemented by chrome side spears and gold Speedster script, color-matched front and rear bumpers with chrome/rubber accent strips and bumper guards, painted 15” wheels, and chrome hubcaps. BF Goodrich White Side Wall tires were installed April 17, 2021. Dual exhaust pipes exit through the rear bumper guards. A new black fabric top was installed by European Collectibles in 2019.
The red leather interior is unique to this T2 Speedster. Tan German square weave carpet and a red boot cover combine to fit this Speedster’s more refined personality.
A period-correct, Super 1.6L air-cooled flat-four engine generates up to 75 HP, 15 HP greater than the original Normal engine. The 4-speed manual transmission was rebuilt 3k miles ago. The drum brakes have been rebuilt, along with new wheel cylinders, brake lines and master cylinder.
