Description

This reconstructed 1961 Porsche Super 90 GT Outlaw originated as a European Delivery through Pons (Netherlands.) After spending time in Europe, the coupe was shipped to California where in the late 1990s, it was converted to a Super 90 GT Outlaw by Carrosserie Gretener, with parts sourced from GTwerk. Refinished in Silver Metallic #6006 (original color), over a custom green Australian Leather interior, this GT-styled Coupe commands attention wherever it goes. Period-style rallye details abound, from its Marchal driving lights, to the snorty Stinger exhaust jutting from beneath the rear valence. Nothing was left undone in this re-creation. All work was done by well-known industry professionals. Its SC engine was first rebuilt by Bob Campbell, then in 2017, further massaged by Vic Skirmants, owner of 356 Enterprises. Werkstatt’s Jon Bunin rebuilt the transmission. Mark Eskuche, owner of Ecurie Engineering, addressed suspension and brake needs. This well-sorted Outlaw is perfectly suited for canyon twisties or a weekend Cars and Coffee.

Optioned in the style of a true Super 90 GT, this coupe features Marchal driving lights, mesh headlight guards, leather straps to secure the lightweight trunk lid, and an access port to the GT gas tank. GT mirrors, stone guards, louvered engine lid, and plexiglass side and rear windows all complement its brilliant silver exterior. Chrome trim was re-plated or replaced as necessary. Combined with GT Deco bumpers and Drum brake offset 5.5” rims with fat tires, this Coupe has a wider, more menacing look.

The green Australian leather GT Speedster seats, safety harnesses, removable roll bar, fire extinguisher, aluminum pedal covers, wooden custom steering wheel, and dash mounted Sinn Rallye chronographs all contribute to this GT Coupe’s upscale vintage Rallye appeal.

The original 1.6L air-cooled flat-four engine produced 86 HP at 5,500 RPM. Now, with a polished 912 crank, a racier cam, and new pistons and cylinders (all components balanced and blueprinted) this engine produces considerably more. Ecurie Engineering set the camber and caster, corner-weighted the car, installed rear wheel spacers and a steering damper, adjusted the final ride height, installed new brake shoes and new brake lines, added Boge/Sachs shocks and suspension components, and replaced the front windshield and numerous rubber seals. Together with the rebuilt transmission that features shorter gear ratios, this lightened Coupe scoots from turn to turn, or pylon to pylon.
